Scrap Pretty

I recently completed my very
first quilt courtesy of VirtueRadioNetwork.com's

"Strips End Quilt" and it is taught
by the wonderful professional quilting designer, Larene

My first quilt
(LEARN TO QUILT)

One problem I had during
the quilting process was I kept misplacing my scissors.
So, I came up with a solution that allowed me to recycle
my fabric scraps and create a pretty tool holder.

A simple (and pretty!) solution.

Instead of throwing cans away.

You'll need: rubber gloves, Mod Podge (or
any kind of decoupage adhesive); paint tray;
paint brushes; paint; embellishments (optional).
Paint the outside and inside. Let dry.
(To avoid rust spots seen in the above photo, use
Rust-Oleum paint.)
Select fabric from your scrap pile.
Apply the Mod Podge to the wrong
side of the fabric
with a paint brush.

Adhere to the can. Smooth out any air bubbles. Tuck the
top edges inside the can. Let dry for at least 2 hours.
Trim away excess fabric from the bottom of the can.
Then, apply two coats of Mod Podge over the fabric
with 1 hour drying time between each coat.

Vertical stripes.
No more missing scissors!
